How to create a session

A step-by-step guide to creating a Neeg Host session: naming it, picking games, sharing the link, and getting players in.

What is a session?

A session is your event container on Neegma. You create one, share the link with players, and run the whole experience from there. Everything the game lineup, player scores, and leaderboard — lives inside the session.

Step 1: Log in to your dashboard

Go to tryneegma.com and log in. If you don't have an account yet, signing up is free and takes under a minute. No credit card required.

Step 2: Create a new Neeg Host session

From your dashboard, click New Neeg Host. This opens the session creation flow.

Step 3: Name your session

Give your session a name. Players will see this in the lobby when they join, so keep it relevant to your event:

  • "Team Bonding — April"
  • "Sarah's Birthday Games"
  • "Friday Night Trivia"

Step 4: Configure player settings

Choose how players will compete:

  • Individual mode — everyone plays for themselves, scores tracked per person
  • Teams mode — players are grouped into 2 to 6 teams, scores pooled per team

You can also review your player capacity based on your current plan.

Step 5: Share the join link or QR code

Once your session is created, you'll get a unique join link and QR code. Share either with your players:

  • Paste the link into a group chat
  • Project the QR code on a screen for in-person events
  • Read the short URL aloud if needed

Players do not need an account to join. They just open the link, enter their name, and wait in the lobby.

Step 6: Let's play

When your players are ready, click Let's Play. Everyone in the lobby will be taken into the first game automatically.

Tip: For in-person events, leave the QR code on screen for a few minutes after starting so latecomers can still scan and join.

What happens if a player joins late?

Players can join mid-session. They will be added to the leaderboard from the next game onwards and will not affect games already in progress.
